Holi is celebrated in joy of Holika demon’s death. In Hindu mythology Holika demon was burnt and hence one day before hole statues of demons are burnt and then next day holi festival is celebrates all throughout India. The Herbal dyes are being used now days instead of chemical dyes. Herbal and vegetable dyes are an environment friendly approach towards celebrating this festival and vegetable dyes reduces the risk of skin injuries. In this festival people go to each other’s houses and serve sweets and put color on each other. Most of the young children use water toys which are filled with colored water. Elders call musicians to play drums and participate in the festivities while everyone drinks bhang (Hemp plant alcoholic drink) and eat sweets and put color on each other. This activity lasts all day. On the left is a painting depicting lord Krishna celebrating holi with Radha. Holi is a very famous festival and contributes to the vivid traits of Indian culture and color in the interiors of Indian houses and palaces. Rangoli is also made using the same colors as holi continuing the joy of excitement and celebration.
